Together with pianist Jaroslav Bárta, David Kleňha forms the jazz duo — the most intimate of his line-ups. They play where music should create the atmosphere rather than be the main attraction: at corporate evenings, receptions and standing dinners, at gallery openings, and as dinner jazz in Prague hotels and restaurants.
David Kleňha is a jazz singer. He performs regularly with his own line-ups from duo to quintet and works as a soloist with jazz big bands and orchestras, including theatre performances. His repertoire is built on jazz and swing standards, ballads and Czech classics.
Jaroslav Bárta accompanies David Kleňha in the jazz duo — voice and piano, the most intimate line-up for corporate evenings, receptions, gallery openings and dinner jazz. The same line-up also performs as a trio, quartet or quintet.
A graduate of musicology at Masaryk University and of piano and composition at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, where he now teaches jazz interpretation. A versatile pianist and composer who has worked with artists such as Lenka Filipová, Žentour, Madfinger, Zatrestband, Chantal Poullain and the Felix Slováček Big Band.

Frequently asked questions
What is the approximate price of the jazz duo?
The jazz duo in Prague costs between CZK 10,000 and 14,000 depending on the length of the programme and the venue. The price covers a standard evening of roughly three hours with breaks — longer programmes are arranged individually. It includes our own PA system and travel within Prague; outside Prague we add CZK 6 per kilometre. The rate covers only the actual cost of the journey — fuel, the motorway vignette and any parking. How much does a larger line-up cost — trio, quartet or quintet?
The jazz trio (voice, piano, double bass) costs CZK 16,000 to 20,000, the jazz quartet with drums CZK 22,000 to 26,000 and the jazz quintet with a horn section CZK 28,000 to 32,000. Prices are for a standard evening in Prague including our own PA system.
What kind of events is the duo best suited to?
The duo is our most intimate line-up — we play most often at corporate evenings, receptions, standing dinners and gallery openings, and as dinner jazz in restaurants and hotels. It sounds refined without drowning out conversation. We are also happy to play at a wedding ceremony.
Do you bring your own PA system?
Yes. We bring our own professional active PA system, which comfortably covers intimate to mid-sized events of up to 80–100 guests. For halls above 100 people and large outdoor productions we require a sound engineer provided by the organiser. More in the article how many musicians for how many guests.
What are the technical requirements?
The duo needs a minimum area of 3 × 2.5 metres on a level, clean and dry surface, and one standard 230 V / 16 A socket. Total power draw does not exceed 1.5 kW. We arrive 60 minutes before the start; set-up and pack-down take 30 minutes each. Outdoor performances require solid cover for the band and equipment. How far do you travel?
We are based in Prague and play all over the Czech Republic. Events in Prague and the surrounding area we arrange flexibly; more distant bookings, including abroad, by agreement.
Can we choose a larger line-up?
Yes. Besides the duo we also play as a trio, quartet and quintet — we will recommend the ideal line-up for your space and the character of your event.
