Together with pianist Jaroslav Bárta, David Kleňha forms the jazz duo — the most intimate of his line-ups. They play where music should create the atmosphere rather than be the main attraction: at wedding ceremonies, over dinner in hotels and restaurants, and at receptions, standing dinners and gallery openings.
David Kleňha is a jazz singer. He performs regularly with his own line-ups from duo to larger bands and works as a soloist with jazz big bands and orchestras, including theatre performances. His repertoire is built on jazz and swing standards, ballads and Czech classics.
Jaroslav Bárta accompanies David Kleňha in the jazz duo: voice and piano for wedding ceremonies, dinners, receptions and gallery openings.
A graduate of musicology at Masaryk University and of piano and composition at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, where he now teaches jazz interpretation. A versatile pianist and composer who has worked with artists such as Lenka Filipová, Žentour, Madfinger, Zatrestband, Chantal Poullain and the Felix Slováček Big Band.

Frequently asked questions
What is the approximate price of the jazz duo?
The jazz duo starts at CZK 15,000 for a standard evening — 2 hours of live music with one 15-minute break — including the BOSE PA system and travel within Prague; outside Prague we charge CZK 7 per kilometre. The final price depends on the date, length and type of event — weekdays and early bookings work out better. We send an exact quote within 24 hours; details are in the price list.
Is the duo suitable for a wedding ceremony?
Yes, a ceremony is ideal for the duo. Vocals and piano accompany the entrance, the signing and the congratulations, and we choose the songs together — we will learn your favourite song. Outdoors we need solid cover and a 230 V socket. For inspiration see the article wedding ceremony music.
Will you fit into a smaller space?
Yes. The duo needs at least 3 × 2.5 m of floor space and one standard 230 V socket, so we fit into a salon, a gallery or a small restaurant. We arrive an hour before the start. The full requirements are in the article what the band needs on site.
Will the music disturb dinner?
No. We adjust the volume to the room and the programme, and over dinner we play so that guests can talk without raising their voices.
Do you bring your own PA system?
Yes, we bring our own professional BOSE PA system for events of up to 80–100 guests. For larger halls and big outdoor events the organiser provides a sound engineer. More in the article how many musicians for how many guests.
How far do you travel?
We are based in Prague and play all over the Czech Republic. Events in Prague and the surrounding area we arrange flexibly; more distant bookings, including abroad, by agreement.
When should we choose a trio or quartet instead of the duo?
If you want a fuller sound or one band for the whole day, from the ceremony to the evening programme, we recommend the jazz trio with double bass. If there will be dancing, choose the jazz quartet.
